Women's Day Celebration At City Hall

Yesterday we had the honor of attending the Women's Day Reception at London City Hall!

Following the 100th anniversary of when women first voted, the London Assembly conducted a campaign to redress the gender balance of London’s Blue Plaques. They found that only 14 per cent of the capital’s Blue Plaques honor women. Of the 944 Blue Plaques - only 132 recognize the achievements of women. Assembly Members urged Londoners to suggest 100 names of women who deserve the recognition of a Blue Plaque.

During the evening the list of 100 women was presented the English Heritage to review. There were speakers from English Heritage, the Mayor's deputy, and even Baroness Floella Benjamin.

It was a super inspiring evening, and of course we took the opportunity to eat some snacks and mingle a little! Thanks so much to the Deputy Chair of the London Assembly Jennette Arnold OBE AM for inviting DinoByte to attend!
